Mining on Eexei Othairus
Introduction
So you think you want to mine materials to make armor, do you? This help file aims to give you a rundown of both types of mining on the planet, whether it be manual or industrial.
Manual Mining
There are several mine sites on Eexei Othairus.
You will need a shovel to mine.
Head northeast from the landing pad to get to the train station. After a moment or two, a cart will arrive. Board this to be taken to each site.
Type mine in each room to dig up resources. You may be able to do this multiple times in each room!
Getting started with Industrial Mining
Industrial mining also will allow you to get iron and malexanite in much greater quantities via the use of the mining minigame. GTo get started, you will need to do the following:
- Go to Eexei Othairus.
- If you haven't already, purchase a mining drill from the mining supplies booth in the mining hub.
- Purchase some drill bits, because these puppies are going to ware down fast, depending on which drill you got.
- Type USE
to make your drill begin following you and go to the mining hub. Type MINE to call a mining cart which will whisk you away into the dark tunnels. It will take you into your own personal iron or Malexanite vein where your drill will set itself up and start mining. - Mine until you get bored or you reach the end of the mine, then type EXIT to call a cart to bring you and your mining drill back home.
- Sensor range: How many yards ahead your drill will see an ore pocket. From then, you have approximately that many seconds to move your drill into position since all drills travel at about one yard per second.
- Magnetic Scoop Strength: This determines the upper limit of how much ore you are able to collect from a mining pocket at any one time.
- Drill bit durability to vein ratio: The higher this is, the more yards of use you are able to get from one single drill bit.
- Flex weight: How heavy is your drill? The heavier it is, the slower it will shift from one click to the next. For the above example, it would take eight seconds to shift my drill from the center of the vein to the adjacent click to the left.

How Mining Works
When you mine, your drill will continuously burrow into the rock, seeking out pockets of iron or malexanite ore. Simply wait until you hear that a pocket of ore is coming up and move the drill into an optimum angle to grab it.
For the purposes of the minigame, a vein of ore is five clicks across. You start in the center with two clicks to the left and right. While your drill is mining, type sh*ift left or right to move the drill in the corresponding directions. Make sure you line it up with the pocket before you reach it, or you'll miss it.
PLEASE NOTE: You can shorten left to l and right to r if you wish in the shift command.
Sometimes, your drill will jam. Simply type unjam
If your drill bit wares down completely, your drill will shut down. If you have extra drill bits (which you should if you've read this help file and taken its suggestions), simply type install
Mining Drill Comparisons, how are they different?
When looking at the drills in the shop, you might have noticed that they are all for the same rank. So why not just buy the best one right off? And which one is the best one? How do I choose?
To begin with, all the drills are the same rank because what determines whether you are allowed to purchase the better equipment is not your rank but how much aggregate iron and malexanite you have mined so far. They don't sell to just anyone, you know? And this equipment is quite dangerous.
Now you know this, how do you determine which drill is right for you? At each bracket, there are three to four drills with different statistics that you can view by typing inquire
The readout on the back of the drill shows the following:
Sensor range: 15 yards
Magnetic scoop strength: 130 microtesla units
Drill bit durability to vein ratio: 4 yards per part
Flex weight: 800 pounds
Wieldy at: 5 percent
So what do these mean?
Wieldy at: describes how jam-proof your drill is. Drills that are less wieldy will be harder to control and thus will jam more often.
When you are in a mine, looking at your drill will display how many yards into the mine you have traveled and at which position in the vein it is as well as the status of the drill between stopped, jammed, or nominal.
Commands and recommended skills
Mine: In the mining hub on Eexei, board a mining cart to the tunnels. In the tunnels themselves, restart your mining drill after it's drill bit has worn down.
Sh*ift
Install
Unjam
Exit: Pack up your drill and call an automated mining cart to bring you back to the hub.
Resources: Check how much Iron and Malexanite you have mined so far.
Skills:
Mining: to lesten the chance of your drill jamming during use.
