full list of pronouns

Find below a full list of pronouns and what they do. Note that these pronouns may not work in every situation, for example, type options won't work with room ambiences, so please use your common sense!

Pre-reading notes: In this document, the word subject will refer to the person typing the command, such as, in the context of %n grins, the person who typed grin is the subject. Target will be used to mean the person, or object, that the command is targeted at. In the context grin bob, bob is the target.

If a substitution is followed by a star in brackets, this means that you can write the number 2 after it in order to change target to be subject.

For example: %arms would use the arms of the player typing the command. %arms2 would use the arms of the person being targeted. This would be noted in this file as: %arms[*].

You can also use the special sub, %a which will replace itself with a/an depending on the following word. This is useful for if you want to say, for example, a coat, you could do: %a %rc coat.

Basic subs:

%n: The subject.
%fn[*]: First name of the subject.
%ln[*]: Last name of the subject.
%he[*]: he or she, from the subject's point of view.
%him[*]: him or her, from the subject's point of view.
%his[*]: his or her, from the subject's point of view.
%D: The target, in most instances.

Subs telling you something about a person

%arms[*]: The subject's arm type.
%boy[*]: Return "boy" or "girl" depending on whether the subject is male or female.
%clan[*]: A person's clan.
%cw[*] or %hw[*]: The subject's walking style, from the perspective of everyone else in the room.
%finger[*] or %fingers[*]: The finger type of the subject.
%fingertip[*] or %fingertips[*]: Return fingertip or fingertips respectively of the subject.
%foot[*] or %feet[*]: The foot or feet of the subject.
%gender[*]: The subject's gender.
%hair[*]: Return the hair of the subject. For example, hair for humans, fur for Mutariansi.
%hand[*]: The subject's hand type.
%man: Return the race pronoun for the subject based on their gender and race, for example, man, woman, dragon.
%org[*]: A person's organisation, or "civilian pilot" if they are not in one.
%race[*]: The subject's race.
%skin[*]: A person's skin type, e.g. skin, scales, etc.
%thumb[*]: The subject's thumb.
%w[*]: The subject's walking style, from the subject's perspective.

Subs that choose a random value

%ohe: Random of he/she.
%ohim: Random of him/her.
%ohis: Random of his/her.
%ogender: Random of male or female.
%orace: A random allied race.
%pr#: Refer to a prior random outcome (see below).
%ran: A random animal chosen from the Mutariansi forms.
%rc: A random colour.
%RCS: A random colour but from a shorter, more basic list.
%rd: Random direction of left or right.
%rh: A random human hairstyle.
%rk: A random baby.
%rl: A random letter of the alphabet.
%rn: A random number, by default between 1 and 100. You can increase this range by including a number such as %rn1000.
%ro: A random object in the room.
%rp: A random player in the room.
%rs: Random shape.
%rskin: Random skin type, e.g. scales, fur, etc.
%rw: Random walking style. %RWS for plural form. This draws from human walking styles, so use at your own risk!
%sec: A random sector.
%sp: Return a random of either port or starboard.
%spf: Return a random naval direction from the directions a ship can target (for example, port, port aft).

A note about random selection

You can refer to random choice outcomes using %pr and then a number. For example: %pr1.

As an example, in the substitution "%rc is my favourite colour, but %rc is almost as good." you can refer to what the first %rc comes out as using %pr1, and the second %rc as %pr2, like so: "My favourite colour is %rc and %rc is just as good. I mean I like %pr2, but not as much as %pr1."

More are likely to be added as the need arises and, if you have any ideas, please suggest them!
