syntactic markup, or hinting at commands IC
Syntactic Markup, in the context of Cosmic Rage, is a phrase used to describe the method in which you can hint at commands to people on the main IC channels in the game: chat, general, missions, intel, origins, movement, trade, drone dispatch and clanchat.
Lets say you have someone asking, how can I get my vehicle from storage?
you can use syntactic markup to tell them the command, without actually breaking the IC barrier.
there are two methods for this:
Method 1, embedded: this is where you wish to keep the command inside of your message so that your transmission makes sense, for example:
chat Look around for the
If v-get was removed from your message, it would make no sense.
To use this method, enclose the command with a less than and greater than sign, as shown above.
Method 2: Removal.
this is where the command should not be shown in your message, for example:
chat <
this would make your message appear without v-get in it.
Use this method by putting two less than signs before your message, and two greater than signs after your message.
If you do not want to be a part of seeing these hints, you can turn them off by typing options markup.
