Explanation of the Transition to Soundpack-Hook-Based System

Historically, most soundpacks operated by triggering sounds through static or dynamic strings, such as 'you walk north' or 'you kick '. These triggers would activate predefined sounds in the client's system. However, this method was often unreliable, leading to missed triggers or incorrect sounds due to similar strings or insufficient static elements.

Cosmic Rage has taken a step forward by supporting soundpacks by default and providing a very convenient way for clients to know what sound to play and when. All sounds, along with their volumes, pans, and settings, are stored within the game. Although the sounds are stored locally on the user's computer, there is no need to define numerous triggers. Most triggers are integrated into the game systems by the coders, and all you need to do is read the soundpack help file for developers to understand how the SP hook string works and how to make it compatible with your client if it is not already supported. This requires only one trigger and no further adjustments.

What does this mean for users? In most cases, it offers better stability, as the client only needs to handle a single trigger, resulting in faster responsiveness and improved performance on older machines. Additionally, only the appropriate sounds - those defined by the game developers - will play, with real-time control over pitch, pan, and volume. This setup is very convenient.
