Submitting Soundpack-Related Reports and Suggestions
Reports and suggestions have always been and will continue to be the most important aspects of any development process, whether it involves a game, a program, or even a soundpack engine, as in our case.
This help file will cover everything you need to know when submitting a soundpack report or suggestion.
Reports:
Reports are typically submitted when something goes wrong, such as encountering an error, a sound not playing, or a script for the soundpack installation not functioning properly. To do this, you should type 'spbug'.
In most cases, it is advisable to attach a log to your report, either by pasting the error message you received or by attaching a file via the 'attach a log' option in the report menu. This makes it easier for the hosting team to identify the issue and resolve it quickly.
If a sound does not play, please include the error message you received before it failed to play. Every client provides an error message related to the sound that did not work. Also, please describe what you were doing when the problem occurred.
For script issues, please attach a log or submit the error message you received, preferably from the relevant log file.
A log file is generated by each script used during the soundpack installation, such as git setup.log for the git installer, cosmic setup.log for install.bat, and update.log for updater.bat.
It is recommended to include the full contents of these logs so we can review them carefully and identify the problem.
Suggestions:
The command to submit suggestions is 'spsuggest'.
Since everything operates server-side, we can instantly add sounds to anything as long as they are stored locally on everyone's copies. Even if they are not, we can release a soundpack update so everyone can download the new sounds. This gives us unlimited potential to add sounds and gag scripts in nearly any aspect of the game server.
If you want to have a specific string gagged, please explain in detail where you encounter it and paste the string itself. This will be taken into consideration. Remember, all gags are server-side, so no client updates are necessary.
The same applies to sounds. You should specify where you encounter the sound so the coder knows which system to examine and where to find the string. It is helpful to include the string itself in your suggestion to make it easier to locate the relevant verb.
