Introducing AccessiMD 1.0

Markdown should be simple to write, simple to read and simple to navigate.
AccessiMD is a straightforward Markdown editor and reader designed to make all three pleasantly accessible.
Work directly with the Markdown source when you want full control, then switch to Reader Mode when you want a cleaner view of your document and fast navigation through its structure.

Don't want to read about the features?
Jump straight to the download section.

Write Markdown without fighting your editor.

AccessiMD gives you a familiar Edit Mode where the actual Markdown source is always available.
Type Markdown yourself, or use menus and keyboard shortcuts to insert common structures such as headings, lists, links and block quotes.

Several documents, one straightforward workspace.

AccessiMD uses document tabs, so you can keep several Markdown or text files open at once.
Control+Tab moves to the next tab, Control+Shift+Tab moves to the previous tab and Control+W closes the current one.
New, open, save and save-as commands are available with the familiar Control+N, Control+O, Control+S and Control+Shift+S shortcuts.

Switch from editing to reading in one keystroke.

Press Control+E to switch between Edit Mode and Reader Mode.
Reader Mode removes most Markdown punctuation from the presentation and recognises useful document structures including headings, lists, links, tables, block quotes and code blocks.
It is read-only, so you can browse the document without accidentally changing it.

Control+R reads the current item and Control+Shift+R reads the whole document.
Reader options also let you choose how headings, formatting and lists are announced or presented.

Move through a document by what matters.

Reader Mode is built around quick structural navigation rather than forcing you to move line by line through a large document.

Tables without wrestling with pipes.

Markdown tables are useful, but editing them as raw text can be awkward.
AccessiMD lets you create a table by choosing its rows and columns and filling the cells in a grid. The finished table is written back into your document as Markdown.

Already have a table? Place the cursor inside it and press Control+Alt+T to open the current table in a grid.
From there you can edit cells and insert or delete rows and columns without manually lining up separator characters.

In Reader Mode, Enter and Shift+Enter move through table cells, while Alt+Arrow keys move by row or column.

Find exactly the kind of content you need.

Press Control+F to search the current document.
Search all text, or restrict results to recognised content such as headings, links, lists, tables, block quotes, code blocks, bold text or italic text.
F3 moves to the next result and Shift+F3 moves to the previous one.

For a broader view, Control+F7 opens the document outline, giving you a structured list of headings and other recognised document objects that you can jump to directly.

Bookmark useful places.

Press Control+B to add a bookmark at the current position.
Control+Shift+B opens the bookmark list, where you can return to saved locations or remove bookmarks you no longer need.

Spell checking when you want it.

Press F7 to run the spell checker.
AccessiMD uses Aspell and can present spelling suggestions with options to replace, replace all, ignore or add a word.
The Options menu also lets you choose the spell-check language, select the Aspell executable and install a dictionary archive.

Your work should survive an interruption.

AccessiMD periodically stores recovery information for documents with unsaved changes.
If the program or computer is interrupted unexpectedly, AccessiMD checks for recovery data on the next launch and can offer to restore your work.

It can also remember your open documents between sessions, making it easier to pick up where you left off.
Recovery is a safety net, not a replacement for saving important documents normally with Control+S.

Useful extras, without clutter.

AccessiMD makes Markdown easier to write, read and navigate.

Whether you're creating a new Markdown document, checking an existing one or moving quickly through a long structured file, AccessiMD keeps the source available while giving you an accessible reading and navigation experience when you need it.
